Captain John Colby Stone is a world sailor and maintains the 52 foot classic ketch, Cutty Sark. During weekends in the summer you will commonly see the boat on the water in Penn Cove taking passengers three times daily for tours. Weekdays, the ketch sets sail for charter excursions where island and inn hopping through the San Juan Islands provides passengers with spectacular days of sailing that includes gourmet meals all along the way. A recent article detailing these charters ran in Coastal Living magazine and the ketch was sold out for the 2000 season before the first day of spring! The Cutty Sark was built of teak by American Marine in Hong Kong in 1960. The first of ten sister ships of the Mayflower class designed by Hugh Angleman and Charlie Davies, she wears the number 1 proudly on her mains’l. She is broad of beam, providing stable sailing and plently of room for comfortable deck lounging. Her pilot house offers an alternate steering station and comfortable sitting area. She has a full galley with hot and cold pressure water, a propane stove and oven. You can charter this beautiful vessel for one of many scheduled, scenic sails throughout the waters surrounding Whidbey Island and the San Juans. Also consider enjoying one of several packages, including a San Juan Cruise that includes overnight stays at some of the finest inns. Relax. Let the wind pull the sails ahead, and Captain John Colby Stone and crew will assure you of a wonderful time.
